Microelectronics Integrated Centre of the Provence-Alps-Côte d'Azur region (CIM PACA)
Three cooperative research platforms dedicated to the development of microelectronics and its applications.
The Microelectronics Integrated Centre of the PACA region has four missions :
Strengthen and promote synergies between public research centres on the one hand and industrials on the other hand in order to reduce the R&D costs for all of them,
Enable regional SMEs to have access to R&D,
Become an expertise cluster for innovation and industrialization for secured communicating objects such as mobile phones, smartcards, electronic tags,
Ensure the industry sustainability and development in the PACA region.
At a technical level, each platform is in charge of promoting innovation and competitiveness to a well-defined industrial and scientific community :
The "Design" platform serves the designers of electronic chips which constitute the heart of secured communicating objects,
The "Characterization" platform serves the manufacturing process development of those chips,
Eventually, the Micropackaging and Security - "Micro-PackS" platform serves the integration of those chips in the secured communicating objects.
Thanks to the signing of conventions each platform has been given an operational structure constituted of an Academic President, an industrial Operational Director and an operational Committee in charge of the settlement of the research tools and the launching of projects.
In parallel, a scientific committee gathering toghether the most eminent experts from each field of competence has been appointed to ensure the quality of the works that will be conducted thanks to these platforms.
All in all, simply during its three-year-long launching phase, CIM PACA will represent more than 100 M? spendings equally shared between public and private sectors. It will enable hundreds of researchers to increase their research potential and their expertise.
